Much can be said about the fierce yet gentle love women give to each other. It's in the food we cook for each other, the way we touch each other. Even in the way we fight. But there is a particular preciousness about the liminal moments we share dressing and undressing together. The vulnerability of our nudity that is otherwise so sexualised and politicised and shamed and commodified — in these moments, just existing with each other as if our breasts were merely our elbows and our bare thighs were our eyebrows. I wanted to paint this idea with the tenderness and love moments like these have, even when we don't really think about them too deeply.

“Alter Ego” is an acrylic abstract painting that explores the hidden versions of ourselves that exist beneath the surface. The black background represents the mind — an empty yet chaotic place to stay in.

The yellow symbolism and city-like features reflect the feeling of building a second identity over time. The pink border creates tension between control and instability, confidence and confusion. “Alter Ego” is about the feeling of existing as two versions of yourself at the same time.

In this piece are fragmented identities layered with faces and symbolism, each one carrying its own weight and life story. The deep blues and tones echo the stillness of night, a time when the city quiets down but never really sleeps. As a teenager I faced many struggles too big for a young person like myself to handle, so I turned to drawing cities and peoples faces, repeating expressions and abstracted crowded forms. It was a way of coping to process what I couldn't explain and a way to heal my inner thoughts of the outside world. This piece is not just about observation but about the understanding of others and the ability to create connection through understanding each other's hardships.

“Be More” is a visual reflection on the pressure to conform and perform in an unauthentic environment — my sales corporate job I recently quit. Each working man with their own personality and emotion, all who have stayed in the role for many years without being able to get out. The “big boss” trying to swallow every employee until they have nothing left. The pink lady is my own self, pink chosen as the colour of creativity and innocence.
